Web of Lies & Deceit

You know what they say about lying--once you start lying you have to continue to tell stories just to cover up the initial lie you told. Before you know it the web of lies and deceit has been spun so large that you can't even remember why you lied in the first place.

Like most things in life, relationships (of any kind) are only as strong as the foundation they are built on. What do you do when you find out that the basis a relationship was founded on and built around was a lie? What if that one lie is the only reason the relationship was formed in the first place? Does that negate everything between you and that person who lied to you?

For example, if you find out that the man you thought was your father wasn't actually your biological father and everyone knew it but you. Does that erase everything between you and him? Does that make him any less the Daddy you have known all your life. Does that take away from the fact that he was the one who raised you, took care of you, wiped your eyes when you cried? Is he any less a part of your family then he was prior to finding out the truth?

What about a friendship? What if the events that brought you and another person together were all based on a lie? Once that lie is exposed, can you continue that friendship even if your faith and trust in that person has been damaged? At what point are you being a forgiving person or just plain foolish?

hmmmm questions to ponder......
